Contributing to a Better Quality of Life

Dr. Bill Lay - Professional VisionCare
For Professional VisionCare, community involvement is nothing new. For example, the four-location practice sponsors “Not Your Ordinary Eye Doctor” to highlight the commitment they have made to make patients’ lives and their communities a better place. Professional VisionCare has displayed artwork from local artists with disabilities, and has hosted drives to collect items for active members of the U.S. military. Participating in Walman Optical’s new Kids With a Vision program was a natural next step for the practice, which has been a Walman customer for 10 years.

Kids With a Vision raises funds to provide vision services to children in need. For every pair of digitally surfaced lenses treated with non-glare treatment produced by Walman Optical labs purchased by participating eye care professionals through December 31, 2019, Walman will donate $5.00* to Essilor Vision Foundation, a non-profit organization that strives to give children a brighter future by helping them see the world clearly. The funds raised through Kids With a Vision will support the organization’s efforts to provide vision care for children in underserved communities in the U.S. who otherwise would not receive crucial vision exams and glasses.

“The doctors and staff at Professional VisionCare see our practice as a tool for improving the lives of those around us,” says Dr. Bill Lay. “We believe in Kids With a Vision because it delivers quality eye wear while contributing to better vision and better quality of life for thousands of children in our great country.”

Although the program is still new, Dr. Lay says Professional VisionCare is already seeing benefits. “We have been able to show our patients that our practice not only takes care of our own patients, but also serves our community.” He adds that patients are responding positively. “The patients who are educated on the program are very excited about our involvement.”

Dr. Lay encourages other practices to participate in Kids With a Vision. “Please look at the needs of our communities and country and how learning and welfare can be affected by this program. There is no charge to the practice and it makes a difference to a child every day.”
