Located in the foothills of the picturesque Superstition Mountains in sunny Arizona, Gold Canyon Eye Center has been “adjusting” the conversation about the importance of vision care with their patients.

The practice has found that bringing up the cause of vision when offering their patients a free adjustment on their glasses has lead to an increase in donations. The time it takes to make the adjustment creates a window of opportunity to let their patients know their practice cares about helping undeserved kids get the glasses they need.

Dawn MacKenzie, Optician at Gold Canyon Eye Center, helps her patients make the tie to the cause.

“Most of the donations occur while their glasses are being adjusted. They learn about the cause and they will throw in $3, $4, or $5 to support [the See Kids Soar] program. We let the patient make the decision [on the donation amount] and surprisingly they give way more than you would think.”

Recognition for Charitable Efforts

Gold Canyon Eye Center first learned about the See Kids Soar program at an Essilor Experts meeting and felt a pull to make a difference to promote charity and help their community. Recently they reached over $500 in donations to achieve their SKS Certificate of Recognition for their dedication to the cause of vision!
