Essilor Vision Foundation's Kids Vision for Life program recognized for service to county juvenile detention centers

Essilor Vision Foundation (EVF) is delighted to announce that the Foundation has been presented with a resolution from the Dallas County Commissioners Court in recognition of its service to the county’s juvenile detention centers. EVF’s Kids Vision for Life program has provided 2,750 vision exams and 2,400 pairs of glasses to the youth at the Dallas Juvenile Detention Centers since the county and Foundation started working together in 2009.

During the formal agenda of Commissioners Court, members may offer resolutions to honor retiring employees as well as those who have reached milestones in their careers at Dallas County. Resolutions may also be presented to organizations, private citizens, or in memoriam. EVF was nominated for the resolution by the Dallas County Juvenile Department. “Your passion and commitment to quality eye care is very evident,” says Community Liaison Vernetta Kinnard. “Your partnership with us from the business perspective creates momentum, and momentum is the ‘premium fuel’ that propels the efforts of all to create new and greater levels of success for the youth we serve.”

Kids Vision for Life is EVF’s cornerstone program that offers vision care to low-income children at no cost to the family through mobile clinics at schools, school vision days, community vision fests, and other special events. Most children receive finished prescription glasses the same day.

EVF was founded in 2007 with the mission of eliminating poor vision and its lifelong consequences. Thanks to Essilor, EVF’s founding sponsor, the Foundation is able to provide free glasses to people in need. Essilor supplies lenses, frames and lab services at no cost to EVF or the people it serves, ensuring that no child or family ever receives a bill for vision services from EVF.

“Essilor Vision Foundation is honored to be presented with this resolution from the Dallas County Commissioners Court,” says Andrea Haymore, Vice President Programs and Alliances. “We are grateful for the opportunity to empower youth across Dallas County to reach their full potential through the gift of good sight.”
